Saxophonist, singer and composer Jemima Whyte brings a refreshing new tone to the contemporary UK jazz scene. Jemima’s first single ‘Conch’ came out earlier last year, and new music is on the way with debut EP Joy grows. Hard and full alto sound on unusual time signatures, to warm horn solis on soul-inspired songs sax action.
Their sound? Instrumental music rooted in rock and blues — twisted through electronics, jazz textures and Edwards’ jaw-dropping trademark of playing two saxophones at once. With influences spanning Ian Dury to Krautrock, Little Feat to The Grateful Dead, NJE blur the lines between rock energy and jazz spirit.
Expect fearless musicianship. Expect groove. Expect something different.
